The Man Booker Shortlist for 2013 has been announced! Here are the six books that made the cut:

The original longlist was incredibly diverse, and the shortlist has kept this diversity alive with writers from New Zealand, England, Canada Ireland and Zimbabwe, ranging in size from 800+ pages from Eleanor Catton to around 100 pages for The Testament of Mary. Personally, it looks like a fantastic list to me, and I shall definitely be checking these out.
Well, I’ve read two so far – Toibin and Crace – and am just about to read the Ozeki. Which is three more than I’ve usually read! Toibin would be a fantastic choice, although its novella length might be against it. The Crace is beautifully written, but lost all narrative drive in the last third – but he may win on the grounds that he has apparently announced this book will be his last. Ozeki comes highly recommended by one of my favourite reviewers, Lady Fancifull, so I’m hopeful. Sadly, I doubt if I’ll have time to read the others before the decision is made. Have you read any of them?
I really fancy the Ozeki one! No, haven’t read any yet but have them all downloaded on Kindle ready to go, not sure where to start off. My friend recommended The Luminaries to me as a brilliant read so I might try that one at some point!
